I'm beginning to think that John Edwards is full of shit...

After the superbowl last night I was laying in bed flipping between Meet the Press with John Edwards, and a town hall meeting type thing from New Hampshire with him that was on CSPAN.
A few of his answers or proposals boggled my mind. On MTP he was saying that most of the troops for the surge are already in Iraq, and instead of a lot of additional troops going, the majority will be made up of soldiers who have their tours extended, etc. Then in response to Russert's question about whether he would defund the war, he's answer was to keep supporting the troops on the ground with funds, but not pay for the surge... how does that make sense??? one, you just said the troops on the ground would make up a large part of the surge, and you act like the military budget will have a line item on it for the surge.
Then in NH, he was talking about how geographically people of different economic classes and races were basically segregated... Yes, that is obvious, and I agree with him that it's not a good thing... however, he goes on to say that housing vouchers and funds would be created for lower income class people to get out of poor areas and move to middle class neighborhoods. That makes no sense to me... how do you think that giving a poor person a house (or selling it to them for cheaper) in a richer area will help either the poor person or the neighborhood that they move into?
Later he made a point about predatory "payday" lenders which prey on people who need money before payday with ridiculous interest rates. Yes, they need regulated and usury should be prevented. But his solution was to set up some sort of matching fund where the government would match the savings that someone puts into an account. In his mind this would stop the need for people to borrow at high interest rates and instead draw on their savings for emergencies. If you can't make it to payday, how the hell are you going to save money in the first place, or if you withdraw it to pay bills, how are you going to have any money to replace it? Once you withdrawl it, you will be in the same boat before next payday.
I truly believe that he cares and that he would love to end poverty and the war, etc., and I applaud him for coming straight out to admit his vote on the war was a mistake and take full responsibility for it... But, I don't think he has a clue of how to solve the problems that we face.

Politicians with thier eyes on the presidency just have a harder time not showing it.

yeah... but it's all relative. I've always thought that politicians were full of shit, but based on that already low standard, John Edwards has fallen well below that in my mind

If he gets the nomination...landslide victory for the Republicans.

he's a nice guy, but it takes a lot more than that to run this country. if Obama, and countless others, could see the war was wrong BEFORE it started, why couldn't he?
when Russert read Obama's pre-war statements, which are chillingly dead on, edwards just glossed over it.
Exactly.

He was US Senator too.
He's a New York native who ran and won in the state of North Carolina as a springboard to the Presidency. Yes, technically a Senator. A phony fool? Yes.
Ohhhhh yyyes!

First, I think it's common for people to move to another state. I think it's also very common for politicians to move around as well. George Bush was governor of Texas and Jeb Bush was the Governor of Florida. And of course there is Hilary in NY. It actually happens more often than publicized.
Edwards won't be a fool if he becomes President. Nah, I don't think he has what it takes though.
AMEN!
