wow wow wow

I feel so incredibly lucky to have been in the room tonight with Howard Zinn, Anthony Arnove, Chris Moore, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Marissa Tomei and Viggo Mortensen

The movie itself is not complete but the clips that we got to see were so overwhelmingly powerful and moving - I can't even describe what I feel I've taken away from this experience

the movie is a retelling of history from the perspective of people, like you and I, who did not like what they saw - who stood up and used their voice to protect, to inspire, to revolt, to have their say and inspire change and the message is hope

that, small as you are, small as you're told to be, you can make your mark and you do make a difference and you can start the wheels turning against something that can be perceived as too big to tackle

courage is contagious and united we are a powerful force - but it takes that one voice to be heard by another and then another and, even if it's not today, a movie like this shows us that if the message is true it will be remembered and shared and applied

as for howard zinn, I can only describe him as such a powerful teacher

somebody who you can listen too all day, who speaks with such eloquence and compassion and knowledge and you know that he just has so many stories to share and he's not preaching he's giving his experience and his wisdom and when he's done talking you feel enhanced

so right now I'm feeling very enhanced, and also very excited because I've always heard that throughout our history we are destined to repeat our mistakes - and now I've been shown a little more about how the human spirit can come together to correct them
we're all sentient snowflakes
