yeah, you're not telling us something...there's more to the story.....I have an acquaintance who killed a guy by stabbing him 30+ times, and he only got 9 years.
was he mentally ill? (well, obviously you have to be to stab someone 30 times..but I mean previous history of mental illness

Since we are on the verge of electing a black president, it seems important to explain why white people want black friends. Every white person wants a black friend like Barack: good-looking, well-spoken, and non-violent. Obviously, whites want black friends so as not to appear racist (see earlier Obama post). However, if we dig deeper what we notice about white people is not if they have black friends but in fact, how many black friends they have. White people like numbers. They like to count things like stars in the sky and the death toll at Mt. Everest and the number of times they’ve seen Tori Amos and/or Phish in concert. Counting the number of black friends is then clearly a divine imperative. The number of black friends white people possess also illustrates their comfort with black culture. Here’s a handy guide to the number system:
1—The white novice. This black friend is the gateway to helping white people understand gang signs and Vietnamese beauty supply stores. This black friend is probably the only black friend for many white people and when they all hang out (because white people hang out) they bring their “mutual” black friend with them.
2—The white black club-goer. Two black friends serve as bodyguards when white people go to black clubs to see how exactly one “pops, drops and locks” it.
3 -4—The white BET-er. See Justin Timberlake/ Robin Thicke/ Jon B for more information. For old school reference, see Michael McDonald.

That is pretty funny and quite true in most cases, but my friend isn't my friend because he's black. He's my friend pretty much because he is a nerd like me, likes the same movies, tv shows, interests, politics and so on..
I was once in a car with three of my black friends. We were pulled over by a cop who then called in a second unit. I was sitting there without a seatbelt on, the other 3 had their seatbelts on.
He asked the other three to get out of the car and pull out their ID's, looked over at me and said, "hey, how ya doin today?" and never said another word or asked me to get out of the car, or checked my ID.
Took about 20-30 minutes while they were back in their patrol cars, came back, gave them their ID's, and then let us go without an explanation.

Interesting that was a rude awakening to what some black people have to go through on a daily basis. Did your friends have anything to say about the cops that stopped you?

A childhood friend of mine got 7 years for stabbing a man to death at a bar.
He was white, and found guilty for manslaughter.
Not sure about your friend's cousin's case though. Very strange getting 10 years for a fight.
but I've experienced situation with my black friends that are unjustified for as well. Last summer, me and two black friends would drive to Albany night clubs and every single time my black friends drive we get pulled over. This happened about 4 times. Then we decided I should start driving, and guess what- NO problems with the troopers. They start joking that since I'm Asian, I was light enough for them to see me driving, whereas when they're driving the cops sees a headless torso, boom it's an automatic pullover time.
Then I'm going to suggest there's about a 98% chance this isn't true or there's a lot more to the story.
This is a really old thread and I haven't seen my friend much because we don't work together anymore,.. but why would he make it up? I posted this because I trust him. Nobody died. The guy is fine now. Why should anyone be threatened with ten years for a fight?
One time I was pulled over with 2 of my black friends. The cop told all of us to get out of the car. The cop came up to me and gave me an Italian Sub with everything on it including hots AND he gave me 2 hundred dollars! After that the cop planted 3 Apache helicopters, a bazooka, and 7 endangered owls on my 2 black friends and they were arrested.

I have at least three! And only two of them have ever done hard time!
Then I'm going to suggest there's about a 98% chance this isn't true or there's a lot more to the story.

And how is it hard to believe after the Jena 6?
Yes but Vince Neil is awesome.
Plus he admitted that he's "the OJ of the rock world." He knows he bought his freedom, just like OJ did.
I have a few. Even an ex-girlfriend, we remain friends and stay in touch.
Guess that makes me a pretty cool white boy, eh?
