Watching CNN right now about sex slaves..

I'm usually a pretty forgiving person and don't like the idea of revenge, but I wouldn't mind strangling the people who run these brothels with my bare hands, one by one, made to look into the face of death.

They drug these girls, kidnap them, sell them for sex. Many of the clients have aids and think a virgin will cure them. Most of these girls die of aids in their 20s.

    but yes, it boggles the mind that people actually don't believe in evil.

    Well I heard about this years ago and it has probably been going on since the dawn of man, but this just reminded me of my hatred for these people.

    Perhaps the punishment should fit the crime in this case?
    Not that I would normally advocate an eye for an eye type thinking.

    But I think for every evil act against every girl, perhaps an equal one perpertrated against these slave traders. Strangling seems to easy and way too quick somehow.

    Only I don't know how that would stop it. And that's what I'd like to see most. The whole of slavery, across the world, completely stopped.

    What bothers me the most is that this isn't just some sick act by people messed up in the brain, but that they do this stuff for a living!

    Yes. I struggle to understand their motivation and the inclination.

    Anyone who thinks its ok to enslave another human being for their own benefit is even lower on the chain than a murderer in my opinion.

    I know that there was a thread about this previously LikeAnOcean, and I think it had links to Amnesty sites and other organizations that help to stamp out this vile scourge. I'm trying to find it. Soon as I do, I'll let you know.

    Helps to feel that we can be pro active sometimes. :)

    They busted up a brothel ring in Albertville, Alabama about a mouth ago.....It was apparently being run by Mexicans using illegally imported girls from Mexico. The ring was working out of a couple of trailers in a trailer park.

    I guess one thing we can all do as a community is to be vigilant and report anything suspicious to the authorities. :)

    Its pretty shocking, i know of a number of brothels in Glasgow and they have been in the papers but nothing is done about them.

    Last summer i was walking by a well known one in the westend, which is quite an upmarket area, was walking between two friends places and because i was drinking a beer in the street the police stopped their car and asked where i was going to and where from.

    Told them i had been at my friends, and told them he stayed near the brothel round the corner. One of the cops replied 'Which one?' lol
    People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.

    Birmingham, Alabama has a small problem with the oriental massage parlors/spas that are basically fronts for brothels......generally, the girls end up being taken away by INS as illegals from the east. They raided one last week and got on the local news. Yes, they are also arresting the johns.

    We have had several cases recently here too tybird. One in particular was of an Asian madam, who was arrested and charged with kidnap and sex slavery. She had taken away their passports after bringing them here and was making them work off their airfare and expenses by servicing her brothel clients. I'm not sure of all the details but I do remember the girls were supposedly facing having to work to "pay" her back 10's of 1000's of dollars. Just appalling.

    I don't object in theory to people participating in sex for money transactions. BUT I absolutely believe it should follow all codes, rules and regulations. That the physical and mental health of the workers is absolutely paramount. As is the health of the client. And that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should people who have not made the informed choice to participate be in that situation.
