Ha. That tool Chavez couldn't even get his own timezone figured out. Eight days ago he decided they should be 1/2 hour different from everyone else, since timezones on the hour are clearly a US imperialist construct. The only problem is nobody in his own country knew what the fuck he was talking about, and even he didn't know whether to set the clock forward or back. What an idiot!

    Now they'll be united by being 1/2 an hour late for everything. Or will they be 1/2 hour early?

    No major publicity campaign was launched to explain the measure and many Venezuelans had no idea what they were supposed to do.

    Even Chavez had seemed unprepared. When he first made the announcement, he told Venezuelans to move their clocks forward, when really the measure requires them to be turned back.

    Chavez has dismissed criticism that moving the time only a half hour was quirky, questioning why the world had to follow a scheme of hourly divisions that he said was dictated by the imperial United States.

    The change will put Venezuela on its own time zone, shared by no other country.

    Chavez had said the shift would allow children to wake up for school in daylight instead of before sunrise

    So, he couldn't just have school start a half hour later? Wouldn't it be much easier for that to happen rather than change the time?
