nah I cant stand bush. was there something wrong with what he said? just admit you dont know dick about the economy and we can move on.
  • $300 - $800 tax rebate to "stimulate the economy"?

Sounds more like a hit of crack than anything.

I can't figure out how that $300-$800 is supposed to do anything. If I get $300-$800, the first thing I'm going to do is throw that check in savings and save it for my mortgage payment. I'll need to pay that when I lose my job due to a shit economy.

what you economic geniuses are leaving out is the tax help that is going to be given to businesses as well.

and that 300-800 dollars will be used to prop up consumer spending with is a large chuck of our economic health.

maybe they should just do nothing.

You sound more like Bush every day. How much are you getting paid to post here? Don't you actually have work to do at your "job" :D

his job is to sell stock. Talking to him about the economy is like talking to a used car salesman about the design of an engine.

Bush's job is to sell his America.. he sees Iraq as a success - he sees our economy as strong in spite of overwhelming failures.

shhhh, don't stop jlew...he called us "geniuses". *feels proud* :D

So, go ahead and tell me how a tax break for a corporation is going to help me. How long is that trickle down supposed to take?

Listen, I'm not saying I don't appreciate the effort on behalf of the prez.

but as I said in my earlier post, can you tell me how a tax break to a corporation is going to help me? And how long it will take for me to realize that benefit?

nothing. its designed for the short term.

besides the 75 billion the package plans to set aside if this happens again. but I doubt that will actually be the case. the government doesnt know how to set aside shit.

its basic economics jlew...you are going to lose this argument and i will tell you why.

THE WAR IS STILL GOING ON.

no tax break or any amount of cuts... including firing teachers and crippling our education system further can bring it back

THERE IS TO MUCH MONEY BEING PISSED AWAY.

this is exactly why this idea is ridiculous...i dont give a fuck about 1 month from now... i plan on living for many years...and would rather build a foundation of wealth back....Bush has squandered our treasure...he is the problem...if he wants to do good for us... he would resign and admit hes a fucking idiot and is clueless on everything.

you want your money back and a good economy.... it starts by ending the war... BOTTOM LINE... NOTHING ELSE CAN START IT

The first thing is I would do is stop spending the 30 or 50 or 700 Billion, whatever it is, a month on this failed war.

That alone will raise consumer confidence.

Then, instead of throwing it away, maybe use it to build the healthcare in this country, that will create jobs in an industry that is losing jobs everyday.

Then, I would put some of it into Education, then into infrastructure, then into Grants for environmentally friendly businesses (not oil).

Then I would to lunch and work on the second half of my first day.

too much has been spent on Iraq. I agree 100%. but there isnt much the government can do (or should do) while the stock market corrects itself.

good call. my favorite part of this "plan" is that the poor and lower-middle class won't be getting any "rebate" money at all...

I thought one of the cornerstones of conservatism and capitalism was for the government to stay away from interfering in the market system.

it is. giving tax breaks have nothing to do with the market directly. now if the government decided to but 150 billion in dow stocks you'd have an air tight case ;)
