Colorado "Suicide Bomber"

We like to think of ourseves as better and belittle everyone else for our own self esteem. We are apauled at suicide bombers - make jokes about them and their virgins and how shocking that they can do it as though it s cultural thing in the Middle East.

But right here in America - we have criminals taking their revenge or anger or desires to the extreme and in the end shooting themselves in the head. In fact it is quite a common thing.

But here we realize it's usually a mental illness or a truly fucked up person. In other cultures the nut case is a role model. If you don't see the cultural differences......

Here we prefer others to do the dirty work and spare us the gritty details.

I'll bite. Who's dirty work was the Colorado "suicide bomber" doing.

Is this an attempt to blame Bush or religion?

It's not nearly as common as it is over there...nor is it for the same purpose.

You mentioned 'here'. People here do see suicide bombers as mentality ill and rightfully so. But suicide bombers do have an agenda just as people here have one. The suicide bomber has no means to reach that agenda other than the desperate act he commits. We 'here' prefer others take on the dirty task of acheiving our agendas all the while claiming to be disgusted by such acts.

its pretty common here - perhaps per captia not as common as perhaps a country at war.

I see - so abducting a teenager - or killing co-workers - or your wife and kids for example are different purposes. hmmm are they more nobel than those you have chosen to assign to the Middle Easterners?

I don't belittle suicide bombers. I feel bad that their lives have been reduced to blowing themselves up, but in a way, it is also the ultimate form of expression.

What a horrible thread this is. It makes absolutely no sense what so ever...

I could link this guy to liberalism...but i wont because that asinine.

Claiming? I assure you, I am disgusted in reality. If you're going to argue that suicide bombers have "no choice", then you should argue the same thing about a school shooter.

And comments like these are nothing but cheap shock value.

Where did I say they had no choice? I said they had no other means of attaining their agenda. Their agenda is murder just like the army's.

Why? Because now "the Americans" are the animals? Because you have no idea how to react to this? Should you condemn them? Or would that mean you put your great fellow Americans who can't do anything wrong, because of the fact they are American (unless they happen to be liberals) on the same line as those rotten Middle Eastern people you despise so much?

Tell me, why doesn't it make sense?

And comments like these show little grasp for the human condition, and sense of hopelessness one must feel when deciding to strap on a bomb. Dismiss what you do not understand...it's the American way.

And excusing the inexcusable, or justifying the un-justifiable, whose way is that?

I am not a fucking American. You guys need new material.

I grasp fully the sense of hopelessness. I just don't think that murder-suicide is the only solution here. I choose to believe that even someone this ill can be saved. Who has a more hopeful view of the human condition? Someone who believes there must be a better way, or someone who has an overly romantic view of violent death?

I would like to believe that enharmonic's motives in making that comment were ultimately good. But yeah, I am seriously and truly pissed off right now. I don't think anyone can argue that they truly understand the human condition ... But how can you not believe that there is a better way? I mean, they do the same thing that people like Bush and Cheney do. They hate their enemies so much for promoting meaningless violence that they go ahead and justify violence from the other side.
