actually more accurate report came out and said it was 50 people kidnapped. and since then 20 of the 50 people who were handcuffed and forced into vehicles in a lightning raid at 9:30 a.m. local time have since been released unharmed.

so now we have 30 people kidnapped. still horrible but better then 150.

the american military provide boots on the ground, tanks, guns, checkpoints, air support. take all that away, I believe it would be worse.

progress will only be made when the Iraqis themselves decide to stop killing each other.

The troops provide an enemy. They will make progress when they believe Iraq belongs to Iraq and not to the United States.

i saw that it said the number was 50 this morning as well, but now thet are reporting 150 again..... and that is fox news. who knows? its not like we have a real good chance of liberating any of them... now that we have a policy to abandon our own soldiers over there when they are kidnapped, what are the chances of trying to save these people?

so when americans leave they will put down their arms and start hugging each other?

they are killing and kidnapping each other. are they doing becuase they dont believe their country belongs to them? the troops arent the emeny. sunnis see shiites as the enemy and visa versa.

the biggest reason the white house and Iraqi government is giving for not leaving is because the country can not stand on its own feet. they need american help to provide security.

No, the opposing "parties" will fight for control of their country. And one will win and control will be established.

The reason they attack police recruitment lines and government officials is because they are supporting the American blueprint for government.

they will not defeat America and they will not surrender to America which is why its lasted for so long with no end in sight.

We leave and and end can be approached. It wont be the US's choice.. it will be Iraqs

What makes him different? Because he is Iraqi? his wife? Or because he wanted to see his wife?

because this statement is bullshit..."we have a policy to abandon our own soldiers over there when they are kidnapped."

if he wants to leave the military and get married thats his business.

your statements are always so loaded and full of the same devices that this administration loves to use...so, i guess, good job...at cancelling out yourself.

Yes, I tend to do that. I guess I figure its the only language this administration and its supporters can understand.

i had not seen the news that the soldier left on his own. my bad.... last i heard, he was missing, presumed kidnapped, and our troops pulled out of the region where he was supposed to be by request of the iraqi government..... i guess i need to be current on the story before i make statements like that. sorry.

Is it possible that Civil War is in their future? I am glad that the European powers of England and France didn't step in to 'Prevent Our Civil War' in the mid 1800s.

Does holding it under a pressure cooker make it go away... or cause it to explode somewhere down the road?
We don't know... so, there are no clear cut answers.
    ...
Also... if it takes the Iraqis to decide when to stop killing each other... isn't that THEIR decision to make... not ours?
    ...
I am not advocating Civil War... or War in any sense... but, why is it our job to stop?
