  • Well, if you don't take the Bible literally, you hate America and support terrorism. Duh.

"He (Obama) also called Jesus' Sermon on the Mount "a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our Defense Department would survive its application."
    ...
Isn't Obama correct on this? I mean, what part of "Blessed are the peacemakers" doesn't Dobson understand? And if you are taught to turn the other cheek... why do you need weapons? Unless Jesus believes that making peace by killing your enemies is blessed.

"In the comments to be aired Tuesday, (James) Dobson said Obama should not be referencing antiquated dietary codes and passages from the Old Testament that are no longer relevant to the teachings of the New Testament."
    ...
I guess he means the part about homosexuality being an abomination taken from Leviticus.

I was thinking the exact same thing, Cosmo. As far as 'referencing antiquated (snip) passages from the Old Testament' why, then do a lot of evangelicals extrapolate the age of the earth from Genesis?

I also agree with Obama that the Sermon on the Mount was and is pretty radical.

Dobson is seriously talking out of both sides of his anus here....suddenly whole passages from the Old Testament are "no longer relevant"??? You mean like the Ten Commandments???

the radical wing of the religious right is desperate to not allow Obama to broaden the discussion amongst christians to more than sexual preference and abortion, if he can do this, they will lose those that decide not to walk around blind anymore, which means they lose some of their power, control, and money.

Of course Dobson would be talking about "antiquated dietary codes" in the Old Testament. Just like every other Christian, they pick and chose what they are going to believe and apply to their lives. I'm sorry, but I just have always hated Dobson. He comes sniffing around every election in an effort to lead his minions and then retreats in the off-season.

Would anyone who actually listens to Dobson even be considering voting for Obama to begin with? He's literally preaching to his own choir.

This is what I see. They both have their own interpretations, and preach to their own choirs....as it should be. It's not about universal truth, like anything. It's all about context, and human perspective, which is far from objective.
