  • no. the notion of satan is a mythological personification to account for "evil" in the world. every mythological religious tradition uses the same formula. doesn't make him any more of a real being than phoebus apollo as a personification of the sun

The only Satan that I believe in is the one in South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut. He was hot. A bit gay but the hottest Satan there is.

All other incarnations of the red one are just figments of the imagination and religion in general.

It's a measure of comfort to have "something" to identify the evil with, I guess. Makes distinguishing the good and the bad that much easier. But I'm not aligned with that symbol, so my answer is no.

  • Of course I do. Everytime I pay taxes I know he's around...

My grandfather had this religious book with an old drawing of hell. It was an abyss with flying demonic creatures, shredding sinners as they fell. The outcasts cried in agony, bellow.
I really thought I would end up there if I missed sunday school, so I took no risks.
But it was a fascinating picture. There was pain, agony, horror, perversion. I would snatch that book just to have a good look at it. :D

    Moose?

I thought it was quite amusing.

What? "Dogma"? I thought so too. But I havent seen it in a long time.
Moose was Alanis' nickname in a 1980s Canadian kids' sketch show called "You Can't Do That on Television". I had a crush on her then. I hate myself for that now....

    You bet it is! :D
As an ex-catholic I can assure you: people loooooove the dark side! They love to pry, to have that Hell preview, as voyeurs. Fear and guilt are the best means of social control. Hell gives people the sense of a final divine Supreme Court justice, when the earthly one failed. And it makes them feel good about themselves because they will NEVER (hehe...) be part of that "sinner fallen from grace" club.
    And kids love horror stories....
    ... so, it works.

You shouldn't beat yourself up over it. I had a crush on my ex and she turned out a bitch.:D What the fuck am I talking about that was like 9 years ago.:p Anyway I meant the joke, but Dogma was amusing to.;)
