I guess they don't realize the nature of the internet. As soon as you start restricting the use of a website like Myspace it becomes unpopular and 15 clones pop-up. Just look at Napster with Kazaa, Imesh, Gnutella, Bear Share, Lime Wire and finally all the Torrent sites. They can't win, they can only screw themselves.
Yeah, but uploading copyrighted music is not the primary use of MySpace. I don't think it ranks in the top 40 uses. I don't think this affects them at all.
Has anyone figured out a way of ripping the copyrighted music from Myspace? And if so why don't they just use Kazaa or iMesh to download the songs? If anything, I think myspace is exposure for the copyrighted music, it's not like people are sharing files.
But you are right, it probably won't effect their business, although, now that I know Rupert Murdoch owns myspace I think I'm going to delete my account, I don't use it anyway.
