Don't try and prove a liberal wrong. You can't.

The fact that some scientists know what the temperature was on this day 4.7 million years ago is just plain fact. Deal with it.

I really don't get why some people bitch as much on global warming.
Terror is a threat to occidental populations :
billions are spent, 2 (I'd even say three) wars are started, thousands have died, populations have fled etc.
Global warming is a threat to humankind, and people just go :
"well, there's no proof it really exists".
Ok, I'll give you that, maybe global warming is a lot of noise for nothing much. But what if it isn't? What if it's all the shit that "liberal" scientists predicts? There will be nevermetyet consequences.
In the name of pre-emptive actions wich most of occidentals seem to find ok, why do you keep bitching?

Because if global warming exists, behaivor has to change.
I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.
  • Watched a program the other day about the main man doing seminars about why global warming is false....funny as he is the same man that did the same thing saying tobacco products did not cause cancer...too funny (plus he still believes they dont but anyway...and yes he has been shown multiple times speaking for the White House)....plus he had the lamest arguement ever..."you know a thousand years ago the Vikings settled in Greenland, in Greenland, try doing that now a days"....speaking how it was indeed warmer 1000 years ago than today and he was using this as is "back-breaker" arguement...funny thing is scientists do not deny that claim, the main thing is that we are CONTRIBUTING to natural warming...BIG fucking difference than CAUSING....and I believe most nay-sayers have a difficult time differentiating between the two.....

I gotta ask where do you really believe all the emissions go?

This isn't groundbreaking news here folks. Scientists, and anyone who has done any real studying of global warming, have said for years that the increase in particulate pollution would most likely reduce the amount of sun's rays that reach the earth. It's not too difficult to imagine. All you naysayers just keep in mind though, that this is a complex issue. There are many factors that contribute to global warming just like there are many factors that can limit it's impact. If all the world's volcanoes erupted it would block most of the sun's rays, but would that help us???
  • what's great about pollution? It IS horrible...

  • If you find that interesting, read Michael Crichton's State Of Fear. Amazing stuff. Global Warming is only a theory, theres no reason to believe it's fact.

Yeer! You know, I actually think it's getting colder! Who cares if it doesn't rain in Middle Africa anymore?! And who gives a fuck about pollution anyway?! I mean, it's only a few grey clouds aint it? Nothing to worry about.

Jus' keep drivin' the ole hummer and it'll be soon be forgotten! Yee-haw!

Yeah, coz if you don't agree with something then it must have been produced by a 'liberal', right?

'liberal scientists'? Please explain what you mean by this statement. By 'liberal scientist', do you mean those scientists who are not in the pay of big business? Please clear this up for me as I'm confused. Thanks.

"Liberal" scientists must be the scientists that are:

    1. not hired by corporations, and
    2. threatened by the Bush administration that they would have them fired by their employer if they released their legitamate findings that climate change, global warming, and melting glaciers are in fact, true. And this has happened, just in the past year.

Aside from the scientists, how would one assuming it's all a hoax, explain this?

Bush Aide Softened Greenhouse Gas Links to Global Warming
...In handwritten notes on drafts of several reports issued in 2002 and 2003, the official, Philip A. Cooney, removed or adjusted descriptions of climate research that government scientists and their supervisors, including some senior Bush administration officials, had already approved. In many cases, the changes appeared in the final reports...

My point is that the scientists claiming that global warming is a clear threat and not just a strange theory are often labelled as "liberals". Wich I find stupid but my post was made in reference to the first posts of the thread.
And my other point wich didn't seem to be to clear was just that in the name of pre-emptive actions (wich have changed the face of the world these last years) we should act on this issue (global warming of course).

You're right in that it is stupid. But fair enough.

global dimming is bad, too, it also changes weather patterns, acid rain and such...but whatever to avoid doing anything
    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

It would be interesting to know in what kind of shape the planet will be in in 50 - 100 years time. I'd love to make you eat these words if and when, as a species, we are living in a ruined environment rife with drought and flooding on an unprecendted scale. But then, none of us may be around to find out.

however, humans may not be...I guess that's another story....

  • I love pollution. I really do. I mean, all those dinosaurs that died when it went really cold? That was just nature saying "Stick it to the dino!". And they died, so they could turn into fossil fuels. Wicked stuff that. Imagine, all you need to do is dig it up and burn it and you get lots of energy from it! Excellent! Never mind that you get some fumes as well. After all, would we have arms and digging tools and an IQ that enables us to burn the fossil fuels if it wasn't good for our planet? Would you really want the dinosaurs and all the other plants and animals to stay down there and spend eternity as fossils? No! Of course not! And if it turns out that it does get a bit too hot eventually and there are lots of floods and stuff, well, then that's just nature saying "Stick it to the man!". Isn't it?

    ;)

I hope that when the ants or bees take over dominance of this planet, that they choose not to burn the tar from our fossil remains for fuel... and that they don't claim that God is in their image. That should be the lesons we leave them.
