It was interesting that he said on his first week there that he had love for those kids. Now he just sounds so evil towards them.

It must be hell on earth there, to make you change so much, in such little time.

And sometimes they bring it back home with them... Have a couple of uncles that never got over Vietnam...

Some posts seem to insinuate that this type of baffoonery is endemic to US soldiers....do you really think this only happens with US soldiers? I dont, but I am curious to hear others' thoughts.....

That guy acted like a real ass-clown. I am not defending him at all (so dont flame me like I am). But I think war is as close as we get to hell on earth. I feel sorry for that guy. I wouldnt want to be in his position. I wouldnt want to see what he sees everyday. There is no telling what we would all be doing if we were in his shoes.

In fact I believe I wouldn't be too far from this I think. I mean I completely see things differently now looking back but at one time I was trained/brainwashed to kill and you keep that mindset as one prepares for war. I can remember just itching for a conflict around the world. Once there depending on what happens to you, the soldiers you command or friends can change you very quickly. I can say NOW I probably wouldn't stupid like this guy but one never knows especially when you're in your youth.

It takes a tremendous amount of discipline to contain yourself in critical situations. The horrible thing about war is that discipline can easily be lost especially in a war profiteering campaign like this in Afghanistan/Iraq.

That's fucked up. I'm not surprised, though, and I'm convinced there's a lot more of this shit going on.
