W: Terrorists May Attack During Transition

WASHINGTON, Nov 6: US President George W. Bush on Thursday warned that terrorists could strike the United States during the transfer of power to president-elect Barack Obama.

"We're in a struggle against violent extremists determined to attack us, and they would like nothing more than to exploit this period of change to harm the American people," he said in a speech to aides at the White House.

    personally, i think dubya is merely referring to the little green men who will come to take him off to mars for a BBQ, and then join the scientology cult, errr....religion.

    It doesn't take Nostradamus or Bush to assert than terrorists can attack at any time...anyone knows that. But, there is no sense to live in fear of it.

    It's funny the way different people take this.

    I actually take this as W mentioning this so that people don't blame it on Obama...but on just a period of change occurring.

    If people actually think that Bush some how wants to prolong his stay in office, they are fucking crazy. That man probably wishes he could have Obama inaugurated tomorrow. We are in a seriously fucked up situation and there is no way in hell he wants to stay in office one minute more than he has to.

    oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    What does the president have to do with it anyway? Aren't security people working 24/7 anyway regardless? Does responsibility go away just because a new President has been elected?
    Bush doesn't read his security briefings anyway so why should we believe anything will be any different than the last 8 years?

    My sarcastic response was in reference to someone else insinuating that if there were to be an attack between now and January we would blame Obama. My point is that Bush was blamed for allowing 9/11 to happen when it was something that had been in the works for years.

    So, it would seem logical to blame an attack on Obama if were one to occur early in his presidency, wouldn't it?


    Oh, and for those of you who are once again touting W's fear mongering tactics: he is merely stating a very real possibility. You can bet there are nuts out there every day plotting some kind of attack and anything can happen. It's not fear mongering, it's called reality..look into it. Let's hope Obama doesn't stick his head in the sand like Clinton.
    All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

    Either you want to be let in on reality or you don't. Reality is often scary and sugar-coating it doesn't change a damn thing. I've never let fear alter my day to day life in any way even though I am always mindful of the fact that many people want to bring harm to my country. Those who live in fear choose to do so...it ain't W's fault or anybody elses.

    And, yes, Biden predicted a major test for Obama during the first six months of his presidency. Is he fear-mongering or living in reality?

    Not necessarily, I guess, but he certainly did not rule out an attack on our soil either. He ain't talking about Saturday afternoon pickin' daisies in the park, that's for sure whether it happens here or not.

    I think he might be telling the truth and hes just covering his ass.If something does happen just after the inaguration then people are just going to go off and blame him. Now he can say the he gave the warning.Aagin I think hes just covering his ass.
