A quick history lesson. I mean before we invade Iran, we should first learn something about what we've already done to them.

US is all talk when it comes to Iran. we would not invade that country. we might bomb them from afar if they build a nuke but Israel would probably make the first move.

    Israel invading = US invading

The US finances the Israeli Army. Israel would not dare make a move if it didn't have the approval and support of the US, as happened in Lebanon this past summer.

you can't serioulsy believe that Iran would nuke irsrael do you? other than the fact that Iran has never said such a thing and probably knows that a nuke would kill just about every palestinian in the process.

has Iran's president said he wants Israel wiped off the map? sorry I dont trust Iran's president as much as you
  • There is something you have to consider about Iran. They are a democratic society that has very very different culture than America. We may not agree with the leadership that is in power there, but it is the choice of the Iranian people, and is that not what America wants to spread?

    Here's a little history lesson.

The Iran-Iraq War lasted 8 years. Iran suffered 1 million casualties and settles for a cease-fire.

The Iraq war lasted 5 weeks. Iraq no longer sustains a fighting force as a nation.

What we have here is a "FRIGHTENING!" nation in Iran that was incapable of defeating Iraq after 8 years of fighting. This of course being the same nation that the United States kicked aside after 5 weeks of combat.

    Ok, who's depressed?

No he hasn't... and as long as this mistranslation keeps going around I don't think anyone can have an honest discussion about Iran.

"But the actual quote, which comes from an old speech of Khomeini, does not imply military action, or killing anyone at all. The second reason is that it is just an inexact translation. The phrase is almost metaphysical. He quoted Khomeini that "the occupation regime over Jerusalem should vanish from the page of time." It is in fact probably a reference to some phrase in a medieval Persian poem. It is not about tanks."

So now I'm a sympathizer... nice! you couldn't find a more loaded adjective?

All those stories you link to were for stories on Oct. 27, 2005 and all of them based on the translation of one person. Yeah, they might be different news agencies, but they are all using the same source.

Look, I don't like the guy, I don't "sympathize" with him. But people who favor bombing a country of 71 million people need to stop using an erroneous quote as justification.

I wouldnt be in favor of bombing Tehran or any other populated area but I would be in favor on bombing their remote heavily guarded nuke sites.

stop believing its an erroneous quote. he said what he said. He wants Israel gone.

and your telling me my 3 different sources all came from one person? coming from you who gave a quote from some professor who is trying to break down his quote into something its not. what a joke

Ahmedinijad is just a figurehead anyway, right? Khomeini is pulling the strings.
