ROME (AFP) - Nine priests of China's unofficial underground Roman Catholic Church have been arrested in the northern province of Hebei, the Catholic press agency Asianews said.

Asianews, a Rome-based agency with Vatican connections, said the arrested clergymen had met for studies in a community some 30 kilometres (18 miles) south of their diocese at Baoding.

The motive for the arrests was not known, "but it's probable they were arrested just because they met over the Christmas period for a prayer session in a place that has not been recognised by the government," said Asianews

It's a good thing America and American companies don't do any business dealings With China.

Gotta love communism, though. I wish I was one of those bishops.
All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.

Yeah, I'd sure hate to live in a country that didn't support religious freedom.

  • From outlawing religion to shooting Tibetans who try to escape.....who would want to live in China?
    The wind is blowing cold
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

    Feels like were all alone
    Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow

    So what are we becoming?
    Where did we go wrong?

At least arresting priests is humane. In America, we firebomb our cults.

    Just ask buddy-pal Dave Koresh.

Perhaps the Chinese gov't locked 'em up before they had a chance to molest some kids. That would also be a proactive thing to do.
