Home video of a costumed Tigger character apparently punching a boy in the face and knocking him back at a Walt Disney World theme park has prompted an Orange County Sheriff's investigation into the incident and led to the suspension of the cast member, according to a Local 6 News report.

The Monaco family said they were visiting a Disney theme park and posing for a photo with Tigger when the character landed a hard punch.

"You don't come here for this," father Jerry Monaco said. "Disney is supposed to be a safe place. It is supposed to be a place where you come and spend time with your family. How hard did he hit you, (son)?"

"Pretty hard," Jerry Monaco Jr. replied. "I could still feel it even though he was wearing the padded gloves."

Monaco said he noticed the alleged attack was unprovoked after looking at the video.

"At first I was upset at my son," Monaco Sr. said. "I thought he did something to Tigger. But then I review it and it is pretty clear, for no reason he just clocked him in the face."

Monaco said he did not provoke the attack and just had his arm around the costumed character when the incident happened.

"No provoking at all," Monaco said. "It was just out of the blue."

Disney officials called the family, the report said.

    Can't help but laugh. The guy has a point, though, when he says Disney is supposed to be a safe place.

    I had an incident with a Fred Flintstone at Universal Studios. It was a picture situation, but after the pic Fred wouldn't let go of me (he had his arm around me) then proceeded to walk off with me. He had this 'evil' giggle. I ended up bending his fingers back, so he'd let go of me, then I pushed him away from me. My husband still laughs at that story today.

    that is pretty lame, the kid is yanking on tigger's back and tigger hardly "punches" him.

    The "kid" is as big as tigger and looks like a little smartass. He probably pulled on the costume and tigger pushed his arm away. It was not a HIT. what a joke. I hope to god disney does not even pay a nuisance settlement.

    Union Rep Says Tigger Was Trying To Escape From Teen

    ORLANDO, Fla. -- A New Hampshire teenager said home video proves he was attacked by Tigger at Disney-MGM Studios. But, Channel 9 has learned Tigger said he was the one who was attacked. A union representative for him said he was pulled and was choking, adding he was just trying to escape from the teen.

    The teen's father filed charges against Fedelem with the Orange County Sheriff's Office and Fedelem was suspended from work by Disney for now.

    The father thinks Tigger was annoyed that he was abandoned by his character escort. But Donna-Lynne Dalton, who represents more than 2,000 characters at Disney, has a different take.

    "I have no idea how they would know, because, as you know, the characters do not talk," she said.

    Jerry Monaco, Sr. said he took his son to the hospital a day after it happened because his son complained of neck problems. He was even prescribed a painkiller, codeine.

    But Dalton said a supervisor talked to the family right after the alleged attack and they said their son was not hurt.

    "As a union, we're not going to condone guests coming into the park and assaulting our members," Dalton said.

    Monaco has retained an attorney. Eyewitness News asked Monaco if he's planning to file a lawsuit to get money.

    "Gimme a break," he said.

    The kid needed codeine? yeah, right.
