  • could happen...
  • I don't think it'll happen. I don't see the redneck south embracing him, and his pro choice, anti-gun views. Though they may like that he is pro marrying your cousin. That, and the man has an awful lot of skeletons. He may have been a hero on 9/11, but he also helped cover up that the air at Ground Zero was not safe. Because of that (and he's not the only one) people are dying now, and many more will die as a result of their heroic actions. He also championed one of his lackeys to be Homeland Security Chief. That lackey took money from a known mobster, amongst many, many other transgressions.

It's a year and a half out and I like him. I haven't embraced him yet, but like you said, I'm from the redneck south and that may be impossible for me to do. Please excuse me, it's time for me and my sister's shower.

Now thats funny. Im surprised no kinky northerners offered to join in. Stop blaming the South people. There were plenty of Mountain and Southwest states who went Red in 04 too. I think he is a viable candidate because he has the possibility of crossing party lines and grabbing independents and dems in New York or California who don't like what the Dems have to offer, which, to date, looks like a whole lot of nothin but losin again. If I had to choose between Rudy and Hillary Im not sure which way Id go...He is more viable than anything the Republicans have right now unless McCain jumps in

    I don't think he'd make a good president.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire
  • Impossible. His name recognition is not enough.

In the history of the United States, and the last 100 years ( I think) no mayor has gone on to DIRECTLY become the president without holding higher office.

We elect Governors, Senators and Generals.

  • I'd rather Hillary be elected than another pussy Republican.
All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.

I believe there's something to be said for being mayor of a city whose population is larger than Los Angelos, Chicago and Philidelphia combined. With that being said, his record for cleaning up that city speaks for itself. New York City's culture and populus essentially define America. If Obama is a viable choice for president simply because he represents "change" and looks pretty on camera, I believe Juliani is more than viable to hold the office of the Presidency based on the credentials he has alone. If governing a state is a good indication of wether one may be capable of leading a nation, then governing a city whose population is larger larger than Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorada, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Mass., Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota etc etc... should present a legitimate case to the American public.

Guiliani (note spelling) was also involved in NY politics for quite a long time before becoming Mayor. He was a DA amongst other things. As a former Republican, I had my eye on him for a while and was glad to see he intends to run for President in 2008. However, I don't like what's going on in Iraq, and a bunch of other Americans feel the same way. So this former Republican is probably going to vote Dem for the first time ever in a 42 year old life.

I voted for McCain back in the primaries before he lost to Bush but I don't like the fact that McCain and Guiliani are backing Bush's position on the "surge" in Iraq. I don't feel it will accomplish anything. And I'm tired of the whole bipartisan crap. I don't care for Hillary, don't know much about the other Dems yet, but I am doing a lot of research. Obama strikes me as being a man who wants to bring the government back to being owned by the people (as it SHOULD be, goddammit!!) and so far he is making the most sense to me. But luckily, I have two more years to keep reading and learning, and deciding.

That all said, I like Rudy (other than the fact that he's pushing Bush's war) and I'm glad to see other people think he can stand a chance with the Bible Belt conservatives. At least that means this country is thinking forward.

Right. Guiliani. Or is it Giuliani? Apparently I was more concerned about spelling my states correctly. Listen, I'm from the South, and these types of things are to be expected from dumbasses like me.

And by the way, this has nothing to do with me thinking forward.

So is it Guiliani or Giuliani?

Your title and body were conflicting. So we've actually spelled Rudy's name three different ways and one of us was correcting the other...

Maybe you could move down here with me? :)

Well, I once lived in Florida for three years, maybe it rubbed off?? J/K. It's got to be Giuliani, because if I say Guiliani out loud to myself, real slow, it sounds like an Italian dish in an expensive restaurant. Gee-ooh-lee-ah-ni works much better. So the "i" must come before the "u", I would think.

Thanks for pointing that out. I hate being inconsistent.

I'm a Libra too. That's probably why I'm bitching about it.

And guess what? (Staying on topic here, folks....)

Giuliani is an Air Sign too! A Gemini, born May 28, 1944.

    In case, um, anyone cares.

I like rudy on every issue except for gun control. That being said, he can't win the GOP nomination...I think he should run as an independent...I think he is the leader that we need...he understands the world as it exists, and will not play politics with our national security.

When it comes to the issues, Newt is my guy, but he is probably one of the worst human beings that ever lived, given his personal life, and I would never vote for him because of it. But Rudy as an Independent....he could do it.
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things

Who wants to bet some of the Clinton kool-aid drinkers will use that as an excuse not to vote for Newt as well?

Besides, shouldn't a simple "sorry" rectify anything in his past?

Clarify: why would a Clinton kool-aid drinker vote for Newt?

sorry, just not sure of your question.

No one said they had to or would. But, as used in conversation, I can clearly hear one telling me: "Why in the world would you vote for Newt!? He's a horrible person!"

Nevermind. I don't even know why I said it.

I'm soo sick of This guy making a name for himself off of 9/11. He made that tragedy a publicity tour for himself. what a clown.

and so many of you turn that political act into a random tragedy. any politician that recognizes the world as it exists, and doesn't treat incidents like 9/11 like natural disators has my ear.
