I'm just curious as to the opinions from the people on the pj board about this clip. George Carlin on abortion. I think he makes some valid points. A long video, but worth it.

    Ya, know, i like George Carlin. A lot actually. He is a very funny guy. One of my favorite comedians. Key word here being COMEDIAN. Some of his points here are, at once, humorous and absolutely ridiculous. As a comedian, thats his job and he does it quite well. For Petes sake, chickens and omelettes?! Human embryos not counted by the census?! Look, i'm not an anti-abortion picket sign kinda guy. Hell, while i think its a disgusting, ethically bankrupt practice, i don't think it should be, in most cases, illegal. At the same time, i know better than to take George Carlin to seriously. He is a very funny comedian, not a socio-political mastermind.

    Well said. I didn't watch the video but I am familiar with the material. I'm not sure if it was the same act, but my favorite Carlin quote on abortion is:

    "Once you leave the womb, conservatives don’t care about you until you reach military age. Then you’re just what they’re looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers."

    Agreed to a certain extent. Although he is a comedian, with the subject matter he tackles and the way he does it, wouldn't you also consider him to be a social critic as well?

    And as far as the human embyro/census thing...I believe he has a point. Most hard core pro life people consider a human embryo to be a "beating heart". So, why doesn't the census count them?
