Not sure what you're asking in your first sentence. They aren't synonyms. Individuals have a right to arm themselves, and they can form militias. So I suppose if you want to form a militia and arm yourselves with a large vocabulary to engage in a war of words, you could apply it to the first ammendment. Do we have the right to arm ourselves against the government? Yes, that was an original intent of the ammendment. To protect us from tyranny.

I don't understand the last question, either. Are you suggesting that American citizens would never harm other American citizens? I think there's evidence to the contrary reported daily.

    Second Amendment... Second Amendment.
    Okay...
I believe in the Second Amendment because i believe in our Constitution.
I also do not fully trust our government.
But... I trust our law enforcement a hell of a lot more than some Branch-Davidian cult living down the street with an arsenal of weapons.
    ...
And as for our military people comprised of American citizens. No. I do not think they will carry out orders to turn their weapons on their own people unless those people rise up against our form of Government or our Constitution. Just like I don't believe in black helicopters or contrails of mind control substances.

Right, but it comes down to alternatives. I don't know that guns will save me during oppression. Maybe they'll give me a 20% chance. Maybe 10%. But allowing my guns to be confiscated by the government gives me 0% chance. So rather than act like cattle going to the slaughter, I'll at least take my chances where I can get them and that starts with protecting our current liberties from encroachment.

You can get your guns confiscated by the government and then when the time comes to fight your own government, you can just buy them on the streets. I've heard this argument from gun supporters numerous times. Criminals will always have guns whether they're banned or not. Why would it be different then?

Either way, I disagree with you. You seem to think there are only two possible ways, one a coward way and two the hero way, with a gun. I don't think the world is that black and white, certainly not in a situation like oppression.

It isn't different. There will always be ways of getting guns. But why create an environment where normally law-abiding citizens must become criminals to defend their liberties?

Cool. I like that we can completely disagree about an issue, probably much of it stemming from cultural differences, and yet not resort to insults and name calling. I understand your opinions. I just happen to think about the issue differently.
