I for one wont vote just based on the fact that they arent Republicans, hopefully others will do the same.

john edwards. failing that, obama. only becos hillary would never get elected. unless the repubs run sam brownback.

It'll be interesting to see if Edwards can hang in the race long enough with all the attention focussed on the other 2.

  • neither, both are victims or rather proponents of the idea of "cult of personality". Its their image more than their actual ideas that drives this media frenzy.

I said from the start, to get my vote, you have to have an explicit plan to get us out of iraq. Without that your useless. Both Obama and Clinton are pro-war. To my knowledge clinton has yet to renounce her vote on Iraq back in 2002, and she has yet to call the war a mistake and wrong. She still believes it to be a good war, just run by inept people. I remember watching Cspan in 2004 or so and it was an interview with Obama, he said he isnt a pacifist and doesnt believe in that stuff and even came out for attacking Iran and North Korea.

As far as I am concerned, both are not qualified to be President. Indeed we need a woman president and a African American president but these two aint the right ones.

With Kerry not running my hope is that our country in 2008 starts seriously considering electing a viable third party candidate, who isnt funded by coportations as all dems and all republicans are. We wont ever see change in society unless we elect this third party candidate.

I mean would this war be any different if in January 2005 Kerry moved into the white house? Hell no, he wasnt against the war, and even called for sending the same amount of troops that Bush just called into battle 20,000.

The Democratic platform seems to be: we arent against this war, and the entire idea of this war, but it is run by a cabal of idiots, and once we get in office things will change.

Its more of a tactical difference. This isnt what we should stand for. I mean my god, we have two goddamn parties in this society, or one basically, and thats it! Isnt it time we had a change?

Is electing Obama or Hilary really worth it if they follow through on the new Democratic key word "redeployment" and reposition our troops in Afghanistan instead of iraq? Is that really what we want?

    the big question

    obama:)

do either of the two have opinions on ANYTHING?

judging by the frontrunners of both parties...2008 is shaping up to be a style, rather than substance, election.

Is the west incapable of producing a leader who is clear about their ideas?

Is anyone else ready to head into their basement and mix amonia and bleach out of sheer frustration? Seriously, let the dick cheney's debate the denis kuciniches...THIS is where the debate is...I WANT this. I want us to discuss our differences...not gloss over them for some phony good feelings. these are dopes who are running for president...there is not one qualified candidate, not one. it's a glorified reality show.
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

lol Personally, I would be happy just seeing re-runs of the Cheney-Edwards debates for the next several election seasons. I haven't seen a blitz like those since May 10th, 1940.

Edwards...and Jim "I won b/c my opponent said the world macacca" Webb...serioulsy...what is with this "two Americas" bullshit? Are they still living in 1932?

The GOP is screwed up, I'll admit, but the Dems are still living in 1917, 1932, 1968, or 1974, depending on the issue at hand.

    Obama.

If he doesn't win the nomination, I'll probably vote for McCain.

Well Obama has got some work to do as an early Time/CNN Poll has him 19% behind Hillary.

Obama is infinately more electable. He's attractive and well spoken and to date about 110% less vindictive and as far as I know, not a socialist. Less people simply know his name at this point. Hillary Clinton is a household name even in the households of dumbasses who don't pay attention to anything relavent to thier survival.

I'm still hoping Ron Paul will make a run at it for the libertarians.

He's taken a good step towards it by forming the exploratory comm. as a Republican.

I have to say that Obama has been very impressive. He dodged a bullet by not being around for the Iraq invasion vote too cause now he can say hey man I didnt want this war but this is what we need to do now. It's much better then saying..I supported it but now I wish I hadnt. We have all seen what Republicans do to Flip-Floppers!
    Be excellent to each other

I doubt he will but maybe this will be a step to just move the campaign over to the Libertarian Party after the Republican Primaries. Doug Stanhope is also running for the Libertarians.
