"have become so outraged and alienated by the incompetence, crass social conservatism, and repeated insults to the nation's intelligence, of the Bush-era Republican Party, that they're voting with their hearts and heads instead of their wallets."

My wallet did just fine under Clinton. My wallet atrophied and dried up under Bush.

Can you really separate voting or thinking with your mind from voting or thinking with your wallet? Sometimes they can yield the same result, correct?

Sometimes they can - but for some people they knew they would be taxed more under Obama then McCain and still voted for him.

But that's not an absolute. Perhaps those people were exchanging higher taxes for even higher personal financial gain.

For example, you'll spend $10 extra in gas if you can buy an item for $30 cheaper.

  • Rich people don't pay taxes. They can hire a team of accountants to find every loophole.

So they don't give a shit.
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do

You must be on welfare, then.

Not true at all - look up % of federal taxes paid by income ranges. The top 1% pay over SEVEN times the % of their income that the bottom 50% do.

Just for the sake or argument, let's say that's true (it's not, though). Then the original argument would be false that they aren't thinking with their wallets.
