just ask john edwards and dennis kucinich how the single payer platform worked out for them. or hell, even ask nader. if americans was demanding it and a vast majority supported it like you and a few others claim then they would be flocking to edwards, kucinich, or nader right? well guess what, they are not. a majority of americans dont even understand what the fuck single payer health care is
do you know what John McCains idea is for health care? nothing.
Not a fan of McCain, nor would I be voting for him, but McCain's healthcare plan is far more radical than Obama's. Obama will simply continue the path we've been on for 50 years -- the institutionalization of healthcare payments. McCain would attempt to largely undo what has been done in the past two generations and put healthcare decisions back in the hands of individuals instead of the government and insurance companies. Obama's plan would make fundamental changes for a small minority of people. McCain's plan would make fundamental changes to the large majority of people.
yeeeeaaaaah, that must be it. years of propaganda, eh?
how is obama changing direction, exactly??

maybe it has something to do w/ the media saying they aren't 'realistic' or 'electable' and what little coverage they get (granted edwards got more) is usually negative or trying to make them look like a fool. hell, when ppl like kucinich and nader are interviewed by the mainstream, corporate media they usually start off w/ 'you know you're not gonna be elected....'

"when we finally win the battle for universal health care in this country...."
then why isn't obama supporting universal health care????
some interesting polls for ya
http://abcnews.go.com/images/pdf/935a3HealthCare.pdf
- Question 48 in the poll shows that 79% of Americans say they support "providing health care coverage for all Americans, even if it means raising taxes" over "holding down taxes, even if it means some Americans do not have health care coverage."
- Question 49 shows 62% say they support a universal health care system "run by the government and financed by taxpayers" over the current system.
- Question 50 shows 57% say they would support this program even "if it limited your own choice of doctors" (which doesn't necessarily have to be a side-effect of a single-payer system).
- Similarly, question 51 shows 62% say they would support this program even "if it meant there were waiting lists for some non-emergency treatments" (again, not necessarily a side-effect).

A majority of Americans say the federal government should guarantee health insurance to every American, especially children, and are willing to pay higher taxes to do it, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll.
