The NJ Senate race is probably going to be very close -- possibly decided by only a few thousand votes. Menendez and Kean are running neck and neck and have been for weeks. In my view, this particular election is like the South Park dilemma -- who do you vote for when your candidates are a douchebag and a shit sandwich?
But another factor that might influence your vote is control over the Senate. If Menendez wins, it's possible that the Democrats will control the Senate. And if the Democrats control the Senate, we might actually see some checks and balances on the Bush Administration.
Obviously, there are other races that will affect whether or not the Democrats will control the Senate. And obviously, a Democratically-controlled Senate may not be appealing to someone interested in a 3d-party candidate. It's just something to think about when deciding how to vote.
(I vote in Illinois -- the Bluest of Blue States, where my votes rarely matter one way or another. I'm just living vicariously.)
doesn't feel that way right now. That's the hopeful

I understandthe implications but I can not vote for Menendez or Kean. Both represent everything that is wrong in our government. I would easily let the Republican keep control of the senate if itmeans that I am bringing more awareness to a 3rd party in this country.
The most important thing is voting!! (I love to vote!)

I feel exactly the same way. It drives me nuts when people tell me they either aren't going to vote or that they HAVE to vote Democrat so that the Republicans don't stay in control. If the people that felt that way actually voted for an independent party then they may have a better chance at getting in or at the very least show the dem/reb candidates that they are losing ground.
I completely agree. In New Jersey many people are not satisfied with either candidate. So instead of looking for a 3rd Party candidate to support they will either stay home or vote Dem or Rep simply because that is their party affiliation. It just seems to me that people view voting as an annoyance when they really should view it as a priviledge. How many men and women gave their lives so that we would have the opportunity and the power to select our leaders. We as Americans have completely squandered away that right. Look at Iraq as an example. Those people faced the threat of death and they still went out and voted. If we got off of our lazy asses and actually cared about voting and but an effort into the process we could take back control of our government.
