...according to John Densmore. Found this quote on wikipedia...

Later in July 2007 Densmore said that he would not rejoin The Doors unless it was fronted by Eddie Vedder. Densmore says, "I play with Jim. If there's someone of that level, OK. I'm not gonna join them with Ian. That's not to diss Ian, he's a good singer - but he's no Jim Morrison. Eddie Vedder? My God, there's a singer."

Yeah I remember reading that a while ago.
Which is why the other members of the band and Ian Astbury are called The Doors of the 21st Century

I think the name change had to do with a lawsuit filed by Jim's and maybe Pam Courson's parents to stop them from using the name, and it worked. Could be wrong, though.

I remember one of them saying that Scott Stapp should be the front man. I think that was after the Woodstock performance from 1999.

John isn't the only Doors member to show discontent with a Doors project. Ray Manzarek wanted nothing to do with the movie and that's why he's not in it, and he didn't agree with John's version of Jim's life (from the book Riders on the Storm) so that's why he wrote Light My Fire.

  • Ian Astbury of The Cult did a great job with The Doors. Eddie has a cool voice but Ian is more suited for Doors songs.
