What if McCain gets ill prior to election day?

What happens? If he can continue his campaign duties?

If something where to happen to McCain prior to the election the Republican delegates meet again, without all the fan fare of the convention, to nominate a new candidate.

If he where to be elected but something where to happen to him prior to taking the oath the House would vote for a new president. On a side note if something where to happen to Palin the Senate would vote for a new VP.

Thanks, I knew about the after.

I think my question/concern is if McCain falls seriously ill prior to the election, but with recovery potential in 4 to 6 months. Could the election still go on, or could it be delayed with Bush staying in Office

No the election would still have to go on. At that point the GOP would probably force McCain to withdraw and the delegates would elect a new President. My bets would be Palin for President and then a new VP.

Talk about a perfect storm. I don't know that they'd pick Palin, but that would certainly flare things up. As if we need anything more.

He did, but I did a google search and found where someone had posed the question "what's wrong with mccain's left eye?" on Yahoo! Answers 7 months ago...so maybe this is an ongoing thing, and maybe yesterday he was just tired.

I've noticed that as well. The eye started drooping about a week ago.

The thought that comes to mind is why would this guy put himself through this kind of stress. Right, I know, country first, etc. But here is a war hero with a strong political career. Retire and take it easy your last few years.

Who else are they going to pick. At this point the country knows her, the base loves her and they really don't have time to get another candidate up to speed.

I truly have no idea. Mitt Romney?

All I know is it would be chaos if we were looking at President Palin in 4 months.

We wouldn't be because she would be defeated and if something, God forbid, happened to McCain after the election the House gets to vote for a President and it is controlled by the Dems.

WOW, now I did not know all that. Let's hope none of all that comes through this country has enough problems already.

I've heard there was a chance Biden was getting sick and going to drop out after the first VP debate.

There is an internet rumor being heavily promoted by Fox News, of course, that Biden is going to drop out and be replaced by Hillary. I guess the idea is that Biden will "have another brain aneurysm" or some other illness, and that will be his excuse. It's on the same level with "Obama's really a muslim -- here's proof!"

You gotta admit, there has been NOTHING mentioned of Biden basically since the convention.

If I was running a campaign of change I'd be hiding the 36 year senator I choose as my running mate as well.

If Biden drops out and Hillary is added, my vote will have been decided though.
