Hey is anyone familiar with some good hostels to stay at in downtown T.O? I figure it might be worth a shot to hear if any has some - or + reviews! Thanks!

The best hostel that I know of is Global Backpackers. Its located at King and Spadina. Its not walking distance to Massey, but its not that far a cab ride, and if you walk up to Queen Street and take the streetcar to Yonge Street, you can walk to Massey from there (its about a 2 min or so walk from there).
    I hope that helps.

I've stayed at the Hostelling International hostel on Church before and it was fine. It's institutional, as many HI hostels are, but clean and safe. It's fairly close to Massey as well.

ha, well the budget is at this point rather cheap, since I'm looking at hostels in the first place! I've been looking around and so far they all seem to be within the 20-40 range, so that's quite do-able! Thanks for the input!!! :)

I agree with the Goddess on the hostel but it is walking distance. You're in Toronto. Walk around for abit. Wouldn't take more then a 1/2 hour max
    Toronto 96, Barrie 98, Toronto 00, Toronto 03, Ottawa 05, Toronto 05, Toronto 06, Toronto 06, Denver 06, Denver 06, Chicago 07, New York 08, New York 08...I'm just getting started

There's also Pitman Hall which is one of the Ryerson University residences and Neill-Wycik which is student housing in the winter and a hostel in the summer. Not sure prices or anything, but they're two others you can check out. I think Global Backpackers would probably be the most fun, although it's also the farthest from Massey Hall. But you could still walk to Massey Hall from Global Backpackers in probably half an hour... whereas the others are 10 minutes....

Those are the links. The Ryerson accomodations would definitely be cleaner....

For out of towners who are on a budget - this venue is perfectly located ... the walk from global backpackers takes you through the entertainment district, city hall, eaton centre and some of our nicer public spaces ...

and there are lots of good cheap eats along the way as well ... any of the downtown hostels is within walking distance ...
