Well done Al Gore!

ah who wants that Lefty Peace Nic prize anyway. The world has changed since September 11th. We will make those terrorists pay even if we have to end human existance on earth.

Makes you wonder who the terrorists really are though!

    Why do you say that?

I think he could have implemented a lot of beneficial policies that would have helped deal with environmental issues rather than hinder things. He could have stopped the drilling in Alaska; he could have signed up to the Kyoto treaty; he could have implemented policies to reduce the US's dependence on natural fuel sources and maybe worked with the car manufacturers to make US-produced cars more environmentally safer.

In theory he could have done a lot more practical measures as president than just produce a movie. lol

Wow - the Nobel Peace Prize really has lost all credibility and become a joke.

What does creating a film based on half-truths and hypotheses have to do with Peace?

I hate to admit it, but that was my first thought when I heard the story in the car today. Well the Nobel PP part of your comment.
You've changed your place in this world!

First of all, "half-truths and hypotheses" is just your opinion.

Secondly, highlighting the environmental problems the world is facing is a form of peace work - it's for the benefit of the planet and everyone in it. How is that not peace? It's not that hard to see, y'know :)

And, having just seen this film last week for the first time, I applaud it's positive stance towards action. It makes it clear that there are things people can do now which will help stop the unfortunate trajectory the planet it on right now. This is a form of peace work, as it's giving people the power of information and knowledge to help solve the problems. The fact that the film has had such a high profile is also beneficial as it raised awareness significantly as to what the problems are and how it can be solved. A

fter that I guess it's up to all of us to act on what needs to be done.

    oK well my bad, lol!

But to be honest you could have had one NOW, who would in theory have done some good things for the planet, as opposed to a dumb warmonger.

were he president, he would have had different motives to do things differently (you really need to change laws over there regarding how much corporate donations politicians can receive and how involved in corporations they can be). He could well still have a bigger plan though. Is he quite popular now cos of all this stuff? Maybe not in the race coming up but the one behind when many of the people who like him now will be at the age where they'll actually BOTHER to vote.

Keep on rockin in the free world!!!!

The economy has polarized to the point where the wealthiest 10% now own 85% of the nation’s wealth. Never before have the bottom 90% been so highly indebted, so dependent on the wealthy.

Theres a few people on that list who don't desrve the nobel peace prize, but Al Gore is not really high on the list of people who didn't deserve it.

So in that sense it has been a joke for a good few years now.

In all fairness he shared that prize with Shimon Perez and Yitzhak Rabin. And it was for trying to do something related to peace, not like Al's one (which is quite lame actually).

He didn't win it for the fucking movie! He won it for working with a UN panel in educating people the role that global climate change has in the effects of wars around the world.

I respect what he's doing and all, but I don't see what global warming has to do with peace...
