good luck dude. i spent many years in politics and it's a hard cross to bear. it's even rougher if you're honest.

Lot's of selfish people in politics. One of the "leaders" told me after I won the first time and before I even took office, "maybe you're just a little too principled". Those words echo in my head every time I take on a new issue.

Some may find this a bit corny, but... sometimes before I go to a particularly difficult meetings or legislative session, the last song I play in my car is GTF.
Inspiration comes from many places and sometimes, Ed's words do it for me. Too principled? Never.

Today is the day. It is raining here in New York. Could keep turnout on the low side. Too bad. I want everyone to vote.

Send those good, positive PJ vibes my way please.

I don't think I agree with you on the issues, so all I can say is good luck.

I won! 2nd term as a County Legislator. This win was a bit tougher than the 1st one, but I made it.

We oversee ALL county operations. We do not have an executive or manager so we use a committee system. I am chairman of a committee and member of several other committees and boards. My latest appointment was to our County's Global Warming Advisory board. We will make laws and rules to ensure we are doing our part to limit our footprint. We also created a Department of the Environment which was also cool.
We do lots of other stuff too, but this is the most recent good stuff. We are pretty progressive.

    Congratulations.
Now. All you need to do is invite everyone from the message pit to your county for the county fair next summer to give us keys to the city, and the county, all in return for not publicizing the fact you spend all your time here.
And you have to get PJ to play there, too.

I spend some time here. Not as much as I should though. I would wear it as a badge of honor!

If PJ knew what we were doing for the environment, we may be able to get them to come here! They have been here as 'tourists" before. They went to a wedding in Woodstock a couple of years ago. A crew member lives here too. Maybe we could use your idea and get them to play at the county fair. We get about 15K a night there, a pretty good size crowd for PJ to play before.

  • Congratulations! I'm just jockeying to see if I'm going to run next year in my town. I'm going for mayor on an independent low budget ticket. If I DO get elected, I'll be in big trouble because I have no idea how to be mayor, but I'd like to say some things as I can get some publicity in this town.
If I DO get elected, I'll have to put in a puppet regime, but I'm to use real puppets! :D
I have respect for anyone who stands on their own and speaks honestly when they're in politics.

Congrtulations for getting in for a second term. They love ya out there!

Hmmm,,, does that mean Delaware is that bad?,,, or aren't they letting you back? :D

Maybe I'll run for mayor of Seattle after I get a term Wilmington under my belt. Once I learn about pork barrels, gerrymandering and all,, I'll be ready for the big time! :)

when I think of Delaware I can only rememeber the massive smelly chicken farms..... and they haven't let me back in about 22 years. face it dude, YOU are the one and only bright spot in the entire state :D

oh so now you're gonna make move to Seattle so I can vote for you for mayor there? you own stock in U-haul don't cha? :)

and why does gerrymandering sound like something that two dudes do alone in a park together at night? ;)

Congrats...and remember, taking money from other people and throwing it at problems won't solve them. Good luck.

Cincy, I can see where you would think that. But, being the tax and spend liberals that we are, we are also committed to budget neutral initiatives. We inherited a financial mess from the Republicans and are committed to proving that you can implement progressive ideas within the budget. We are taking portions and duties of other departments to create the new one. We are cutting in some places and using our "power" as the majority to implement ideas that will benefit us now and in the future. We are thinking.... not just acting.
