But, name me another family that has sacrificed more for the USA than the Kennedy's ?

The Sullivan Family - it's just not as prominent.

In all seriousness, it's sad to see this befall old Teddy - like him or not (and I like him), you have to respect a guy who has devoted an entire life to civil service. He's really the grand old man of the party - his loss will be tragic.

But I imagine he still has some fight in him...

I don't like the man or his politics, but completely agree with everything you've written here. I'm sad for him and for his family. I hope he fights the good fight and that he and his family find comfort in the time they have left together.

Any additional rude posts about a seriously ill person, whether you agree with his politics or not, will result in a loss of privileges.

How was it rude? I was showing the same compassion that he has showed to people in the past.

I'm sure if it was George Bush it would be acceptable though. Funny how a band complains about censorship (AT&T) then has exactly that on their website.

on edit: Do these rules only allow to people who don't agree with the norm here? I see people call each other names, f-bombs galore, and all of that seems to be ok. I've sent PM's to admins here asking that question but never is there a reply.

    Hypocrisy at its finest.

Simple manners are required on this and any similar situation NO MATTER WHAT POLITICAL SIDE YOU ARE ON . The illness has nothing to do with politics.

Ted Kennedy has done more for this country than anyone else in the Senate. He shows up, he creates legislation and is actively involved in passing legislation that benefits ordinary Americans. He has demonstrated how deeply he cares about this nation and its people. And he has been doing so for 40 years.

Agreeing with him politically has nothing to do with it. People from both sides of the aisle love and respect him, and believe it or not, they also are aware of that one dark mark in his history. They know that he is a human being, like them, not above error or fault. And so does he. I believe that most people who have the ability to see the big picture agree that his life in public service has gone far toward atoning for that terrible tragedy.

And to quote another pretty great guy, "May he that is without sin throw the first stone," or something to that effect. :)

    Get well, Ted.

Politics aside, they had nothing to do with my post, the Kennedy's have really never been accused to have good morals. That was my point with Ted. That black mark may have been prevented if he had done more to help.

I don't wish death upon anyone other than Usama bin Laden. I do think karma has caught up with Ted though.

The Kennedys being great is one of the biggest myths in American history.
