Funny thing, in that first picture, I never saw "the hand" until someone brought it up here. When I first saw the image it struck me as a sort of "given to fly" statue-like thing, but in the hand that you're all seeing, i saw the muzzle of a wolf coming out for a howl, and in all that black profile, in the trunk, there's a guy flying downward, maybe even something of a feathered wing on his right arm.
Of course, I'm psychotic. Heheee.

That second picture does have a pastoral quality to it. It's kind of soothing. That was about 10-15 minutes into my hike, and that was the road I came in on. When I took it, I was sort of surprised at how high I had gone in such a short amount of time.
