A good friend of mine has just graduated as a photographer. He is a young and very talented photographer in my opinion who excels in portraits and documentary.
He has made a slide-show for his graduation about his visual research into the lives of Canadian natives. I love the way he shows different sides of the story through seemingly straightforward photos.

Here are some of his photos:

and you can check out his website here: http://www.mikeroelofs.eu and here: http://panl.nl/index.php?pageid=19&fid=3364&cat=all&serie=6&lim=19

Tell me what you think and I will pass on the message! :)

I think that it is a fantastic subject area. One that needs more attention.

Thanks for your comments...very very nice words! I will pass them on to my friend. He needs to get his ass back to Canada and work more on this subject. It is indeed a subject that needs so much more attention. I was really touched by it!

We are thinking of working together on a book about the Canadian native peoples. I have just graduated as an cultural anthropologist and would love to write live-histories with his photos.
    ....a girl can dream... ;)

Yes. He needs to get his ass back to Canada and become completely occupied giving time energy and concentration to understanding their culture and the project. This can only help in achieving the best result. Just my two cents. With your help it sounds like a win situation. I am sure I'll be here at the Pit for a long time so keep me/us informed about the progress. Peace and the best of luck...
