I'd say this is aerosol art, not really graffiti, but anything that involves cans gets my attention. Thanks for posting it. This guy has quite some "can control".

I think it is great to see how these ppl make these things! However I always find the end result....well...eehhh...ugly....

It is very crafty, but I would never hang it up in my house ..hehe ;)
Why not be mediocre and be the best at it that you can be?

Iz The Wiz, old school there. The 80s graff in NYC was the shit. I did a bunch of papers in college on the social, economic, and artistic aspects of graffiti. I love it. I've got a graffiti library at my place. "Style Wars" still takes the cake.

Style Wars is awesome!! Love that movie.. That actually caused a revolution in the Netherlands, it was aired in 84 on public TV and the same night everywhere people painted walls, trains and subways, haha, the NCRV (or was it AVRO?) never expected that!

Graffiti now is part of our culture, so much graphic design is based on it.

My last mural contribution: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/obi_once/DSC00209.jpg (almost finished)

Nice mural! Trouble with the whole graphic design aspect is that it takes away from the pure form of graffiti. I know times are progressive, but back in the day it was spray cans, uni-wides, and markers. Now it's computers. The new era of graffiti is definitely wild, but the groundwork laid in the 1980s in NYC will forever be my favorite. So much experimenting going on at the time, the subways were riddled with incredible art, the movement was on!! Too bad it died.

Imho it evolved to the next plain. Graffiti has made it's way in to everyday life, sure the revolution in the 80's was awesome, cars were up for grabs, cans for the taking, but times change. Guys like Dondi laid out the basics, the groundwork, like Hendrix did for guitarists. I dig seeing any TV shows with graff in the studio background, clothing with pieces or characters, the new 3D thing happening, store walls filled and even the acceptance to musea. It's gone from a sub culture to a main stream thing, and any1 claiming it's dogs marking territory can kiss my hairy ass.

Here the big names who 'started' this thing, at least the more commercial ones, do graphic and product design or are full time artists now.

All the new things aside, I still love the sight a fresh piece rolling by early in the morning!

That video looks similar to a graffiti painting I had done about ten years ago in Crete ... there was a guy painting them for tourists ... you chose the picture you liked from a photo album ... and you could ask for particular colours ... mine looks like the second one along on the front of the cart in the google video :)

Was cool to watch your own painting being made in ten minutes ... here it a picture of the one I had done ...
