Hosted by Rob Zombie, Features Performances by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eddie Vedder, Henry Rollins, Joan Jett, X, The Dickies, Pete Yorn and others

Englewood, Colo., August 3, 2007 - GABBA GABBA HEY!!! Starz Cinema presents the World Premiere of Too Tough To Die: A Tribute To Johnny Ramone on Saturday, September 15 at 10 p.m. (et/pt), the third anniversary of Johnny's death. The fast strumming, three-chord guitar master and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer passed away just two-and-half days after this 30th Anniversary concert tribute to his band, the Ramones, the seminal punk band from Flushing, Queens. Johnny has since joined band mates Joey and Dee Dee in that big CBGB palace in the sky. Highlights of the 30th Anniversary concert feature many artists covering Ramones songs (x-cluding X, who perform their own songs).

The event was meticulously produced by career-spanning Ramones creative director Arturo Vega and Joe Sib, and hosted by musician/director Rob Zombie. Too Tough To Die includes performances by Tommy, Marky & CJ Ramone, as well as performances from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Dickies, X, Eddie Vedder, Henry Rollins, Pete Yorn and many others. In addition, there are heart-felt remembrances of Johnny by Lisa Marie Presley, Sonic Youth, Debbie Harry, Nicolas Cage, as well as many of the musicians.

The second half of the film covers the bittersweet ceremony unveiling the Johnny Ramone monument at Los Angeles' Hollywood Forever Cemetery, also the resting place of Dee Dee Ramone. The beautiful bronze statue captures the larger-than-life Johnny, clad in his signature Ramones outfit and furiously playing guitar.

A short time before his death, Johnny commented, "We knew we were good, we knew we were innovative. I would never have expected that 30 years from then, it would really take off and grow exponentially and we would be bigger than ever." Too Tough To Die: A Tribute To Johnny Ramone is directed by Mandy Stein and is A Plain Jane Production in association with Cactus Three.

  • I was at that show. One of the greatest nights of music I've ever been a part of. Eddie, Brett (Gurewitz) and Tim (Armstrong) stole the show, although Rollins really kicked ass too.
