Just bought myself one of these. (its in the mail)

Anyone used/owned one?

I read quite a few reviews before i bought it and most said it was the best one for a beginner to DSLR.... and it was cheap (well cheaper that others with the same spec).

Havent got the damn thing yet, grr lol.
Hopefully get it today or tomorrow. :)
  • I don't know about that particular model but nikon slrs are pretty much celebrated as a whole. Canon slrs are a good match but I've noticed that some of the very best photos on flickr were taken by Nikons, especially in terms of the colour of the shots.

Check out shots taken by d40s here: http://www.flickr.com/cameras/nikon/d40/

Well I think a lot of it is down to skill too! I recently bought a canon powershot s3is and if you look at the photos on flickr for them some of them are amazing. However, most of the ones I take come out pretty grainy :( I guess it's down to individual skill level as to how much you can get out of it. I'm still trying lol.

    Still, good luck!

  • I use a Nikon D40x which has been a great starter SLR. The only drawback for me is the compatability of auto-focus lenses, as the body itself does not have an AF motor. But I'll upgrade once I start getting some paying gigs going. It's very user friendly though and for the money you can't go wrong.

I had a look at the 40x too but i couldnt afford the extra £100 right now so it'll have to wait.

I think ill be quite happy with the 6 megapixels anyway at the moment as im still very much a novice and dont think ill recognize much difference between the 6 & 10.

Didnt come today either, i think the postman is just toying with me now. :p
