What to do in Chicago this week (other than Vedder).

Wondering if someone in Chicago can recommend some places to go/things to see during my brief 2-day visit to Chicago this week. I'm hitting a Cubs game tomorrow night, but am wondering if there's something cool to do during the day on Thursday before the show. I've been to Chicago a few times and have done most of the touristy stuff (museums/Navy Pier/Millenium Park, etc.). Hoping to find something off the beaten path that only locals know about. I'm staying downtown and don't have a car, so public transportation would need to get me wherever it is you think I should go. Any help from the locals or frequent visitors???

i was gonna say one thing you shouldn't do is support those cubbies. its the year of the goat.
I'm not a Cubs fan at all...but I am a big fan of great baseball stadiums...and Wrigley Field is one of the best.

Are you coming to the pre-party fundraiser before the show?
Have you done the Architecture tour on the Chicago River?

Yep, I've done two different River/Lake Michigan tours...I think I'll go up into the Hancock for a nice city view and then hit the pre-party perhaps.

Wrigley Field may have the nostalgia and all that other garbage, but when it comes down to it, the place is a dump.
If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend U.S. Cellular Field. Better food, better beer(Old Style at Wrigley??? Come on now) and it's right off the Red Line on the CTA.
Get out of here. THE CELL is the worst new stadium I have ever seen. Plus it's half empty on week days. Wrigley is the greatest baseball experience of all time.
Plus, Wrigley is closer to the red line than the Cell.
Lil Wayne is better than Pearl Jam.
Bitches ain't nothin' but hoes 'n tricks
The Sox may have a newer stadium and better food, but they're still the other team in this city (even after a championship).

I truly don't mean to offend....but US Cellular Field is absolutely one of the worst stadiums in major league baseball. Horrible sight-lines and unless you're on the very lowest level, everything else in the stadium feels like you're watching the game from the roof of the Sears Tower, the seating is INSANELY STEEP!! I've only been there once (in it's inaugural season), and will never step foot in there again. I'll admit that I am a somewhat biased Twins fan, but look at any published list of the "Top 30ish ballparks" and US Cellular Field is near the very bottom, just above the horrible ballpark that is the Metrodome in Minneapolis. Plus, I get to see a lot of American League games during trips to Minneapolis and Kansas City, so it's nice to see a National League-style game when I get the chance.
Maybe all I need is a shot in the arm....
p.s. Public transp. is pretty good - its the best way to get from the airport to downtown. Only $2.00 from the airport right to downtown on the El blue line.

I am me-I would love to keep it that way.
Exactly what I was going to recommend. Go to Bucktown/Wicker Park and party your rear off. I might fall on you so look out!
