fabled mercury

The poet ponders upon a rain-soaked stoop
Of a life entangled in an endless ruse
In streets clammer that bustles and jumps
Some thoughts of light on wind-swept wings
From Pergatory burns to Olympian blood
As horses and camels pull their loads
Hexed chariots there stowed and towed
With gold-leafed walls
That Gods and lovers' bodies dissolved
In red and black and yellow unleashed
An Earthly pyre emerged as threes
When Aphrodite descended through the leaves
Our hero stammered to one knee
To promise forever a two-fold journey
Into the heart of fabled mercury
change begins with discontent.
