ahhhhhhh....well every good little art student knows of duchamp. ;) quite the influential figure for his thoughts/creations. i am sure you've seen pics of his urinal signed 'R. Mutt'....and/or his copy of the Mona Lisa that he drew a moustache on. :p he and his group, known as DaDa.....tried to turn the art world on it's ear, and reinvent what is/isn't considered 'art'......possibly the first truly conceptual artists, all along with surrealism, etc. he has a very famous painting/creation on a glass panel as well.....can't recall the title entirely, but something along the lines of the bride with her bridesmaids, hahaha.....it's kinda 'out there' stuff. :)

THIS painting tho, perhaps while being so modern/contemporary....still one of his most 'traditonal art' in it's execution, and i think a beautiful work.

also, i just soooo enjoy when contemporary artists reach back and pay homage, or wear their influences on their sleeve....brings it all full circle, eh? i love that. :D

  • here... i found the Philly '05:

    25_large.jpg

they feel similar to me... maybe just in the colours and 'sketchy-ness' of it...

this one is a little more cubist/picasso-ish.... no?

exactly what i was going to say in response to it. :) definitely reminds me of a picasso cubist bust sculpture.

as i've said, i LIKE it.......the obvious influence......pretty cool. or brad is lazy. ;) hahaha. nooooooo, i truly enjoy how he 'spins' it in his own style, makes it his own while still showing great respect for the initial influence/work.

Marcel Duchamp I'm not to familiar with but I researched his work and I do enjoy his collection. It got me to think about some of the artist that I enjoy. Here are two I can think of as of now. Miro and Rothko. I am sure these names are familiar to the Art History people. Thanks for sharing.
