due to my new job, i have the good fortune to work with plants on a daily basis. i also have had the great pleasure to be exposed to a large variety of orchids, and have since fallen in love with them. within a month, i've already 'adopted' 7 of 'em. :p of course in time, they are sure to become a fave subject for photographs, but here's a start . . .

yea, i am loving em....and i know it can take 6 months to a year before they flower again. but oh my, what flowers! i hope mine do well....*fingers crossed* the second plant is TRULY amazing, b/c it is absolutely fragrant....and what a heavenly scent......rare for an orchid. as for your orchid that won't bloom...perhaps try finding it a different location in your home where it might be more 'happy'...good luck.......i hope i do well b/c i love em! and of course, i will be photographing them more for certain, these were just a couple of quick shots....been busy, busy!

    thanks. :)

perhaps that is why orchids are considered some of the most mysterious, exotic, hard to tame and beautiful flowers. ;)

yea, me too! i seem to thus far have the best *luck* with the lady slipper varieties, seem to rebloom a lot for me. all the others, phaleonopsis, dendrobium, etc......most are still kickin', although i have lost a few :(, but time will tell if they ever rebloom for me. so yea, i am going to simply stick with those i have and hope they continue onwards. i am most definitely not into propegating them or anything that intense, see if i can simply keep em living :p....and yea...continue photographing em. they just have such amazing *personality* that i adore!

as promised, here's a few B&W shots i took yesterday:

  • I've finally had some good fortune with orchids in my patio. As your photos more than adequately show, every blosom is worth the effort.
