Well I don't nessicarily have a favorite I respect them all, but definantly the classic artists are the ones I look to for inspiration. Everyonce and a while I pick up a copy(or steal one) of Juxtapoz Art Magazine. It has a great selection of featured artists and always is on the forefront.
I named my kid after Jackson Pollock, becuase of who he was and what he did for American art. Essentially I am my own favorite artist(and most hated).

My long-time favorite is Brittish Neville Brody! I like his typography and lay-out work. He's well known of his work for the Face (magazine).

I fell in love with his early work when I still went to highschool. Oh man, did I (mis)use his typeface 2 to brighten up my artwork way then
He can put many items together on a page and it still looks very pure and simple and never boring. I like his later work (with the many blurs and blob-typefaces) too.
Indeed I like the Benaroya cover very much, and a lot of the PJ posters which are created by the Ames bros (saw their website).
I also admire: German Bauhaus and contemporary artforms and artists like Schiele, Klimt, Mucha, L'autrec, Chagall (these are the first that come to mind because I've been reading about them lately) and photographers like Sherman, Leibovitz, Goldin, Ritts, Bresson (etc...) to name a few. I just like to watch beautiful things I guessRIP Syd ... Shine on you crazy diamond ...0 -
Do you mean "current" as in artists living now...... or current as in "my current favourites" ie dead or alive?
I'll go with the latter
There's not really an individual artist I like, but more certain pieces that catch my attention.... I love being blown away by something I find in a small exhibition by an unknown artist than one with a great reputation. But if I had to name those where I generally like most of their work it'd be something like this:
Antony Gormley : http://www.antonygormley.com/
Andy Goldsworthy : Do a search on Google "images" for Andy Goldsworthy - there's loads
Auguste Rodin : http://www.artchive.com/artchive/R/rodin.html#images
Degas - especially his ballerinas : http://members.aol.com/sabbeth/degas2.html
Simon Combes : http://www.simoncombesartist.com/originals.htm
Graham Isom - brilliant racehorse artist : http://www.racingart.co.uk/index.php?xmain=static&pagename=Limited%20Prints
...... the list goes on♥ ♪ ♪0 -
Yep, I ment current as in what your most enjoying right now, as just like PJ love can be play one album alot "currently" but it dosen't mean you don't love the others too! (oo not good english any way)
good choces, I rember going to a Gomley lectuer at college, hes a great guy, and Goldsworths always SO beautiful.
Theres a nice cross-section of stuff building here, thanks for the posts lets keep it going!~~~~~~~~~~ PINK FLUFFY LOVE PSYCHO~~~~~~~~~~
