Has anyone else had this problem and can it be fixed?

I just logged into my account after not being on for a while (thanks law school and bar exam). My membership number has dropped from 197XXX to 412XXX. I know they changed the policy a few years back to drop your membership if you let it lapse for 3 months, but I never let it lapse anywhere near that long. I swear it was still my 197 number when I renewed it in 07 and it hadn't even lapsed for a month when I renewed it.

Has anyone else had this happen? Will 10C fix it or am I just in for some generic response about letting it lapse too long? This sucks!

people have gotten their old numbers back and some haven't. the only way you'll find out for sure is by waiting for them to reply.

Try calling ten club on the phone. The number is here:

Phone: 1.800.724.8038 This is a toll free call.

I've had better luck with just calling them. They replaced my Deep 3 magazine order over the phone, since I never got the first one. It came in my mailbox 2 weeks later. It's just easier to describe the problem over the phone, as usually they fix it right then and there, that's been my experience anyway.

they are usually pretty understanding, just be polite and tell them the situation.

I let mine expire when I was losing 100 bucks a month to live and teach in the fucking corn fields in Indiana becasue I couldn't even afford the 20 bucks back then, luckily they were really cool about the sitation and let me keep my 84xxx vs the 124xxx

You've probably already done this, but just in case...

You can look at your order history to get the exact dates of your renewels.

Also, I've heard the grace period is 30 days vs. 3 months.

  • Given your situation, they will likely restore your old number, but surely not in time to buy tickets. A similar thing once happened to me, and they resolved it the day AFTER tickets had gone on sale.

They should get rid of the grace period and make it less confusing. You forget - so sorry. Takes 5 minutes once a year.

    indeed.
in this day and age of renewing online, i think it would be pretty easy to *prove* if you DID in fact renew within the grace period. also, your creidt card charges could show it as well. it may just be a fluke. i would e-mail 10c.

I renew in January - I consider it a belated Xmas gift to myself. Very easy to remember.
