but never far enough
a for granted contentment
you start to resent
next thing y'know
you're talking 'bout the weather
and a silence on the tongue
becomes a silence in the touch
I want my fingertips back
and if the forecast is rain
let's keep dry
between bed sheets
complete
with curled toes
and clenching teeth
