and so it comes to pass
upon my breath
like fog on glass
and it seems at second glance
I have held fast
to circumstance

Often felt I were a pawn
that fragile piece
who's looked upon
to forge ahead and risk his hide
so that the rest
may save their pride

and all the words I've failed to say
they are the hardest to digest
if all I've learned shows on my face
will this child stumble less
than I have?
