the first kiss

laying on the beach
it all seemed right
clouds formed on tracer skies
spontaneous laughter
the way the shadows walked
with the ones who stared at us
as they gave their dogs
edge-water, twilight strolls
i sat on the roof that night
strumming Pocahontas
to a mushroom laden
aurora borealis
everyone cooking up
whatever would satisfy
a 3:00am appetite
we washed our hands
together in the lake
and the touch seemed eternal
laid down, the limbs
still numbed, tingled
and the kiss
the first kiss
i will always embrace
the thought of that
first kiss
it all seemed right
clouds formed on tracer skies
spontaneous laughter
the way the shadows walked
with the ones who stared at us
as they gave their dogs
edge-water, twilight strolls

good eye
good writingThe only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

Because I know how much time that wastes

"and maybe Marlon Brando,
will be there, by the fire"
stoking the flames
of misunderstood Oscar speaches
as i trace a mohawk warrior
in the sand with a twig
only for him to be trampled
by the feet of excess
and as Marlon mumbled on
about "the Astrodome
and the first teepee"
we drifted deeper into the fire
sparks dancing of the tip
of the tongue
of all the things we wanted
to tell each other
but had yet to say0 -

mr. chadwick, i hope you're man enough to accept that you are this man's muse of the moment
if I gave a thousand pelts
to sleep with Pocahontas
would i find out
how you felt in the morning?
and if the sand beneath us
fills in for fields of green
this is still a homeland
we had never seen
nor seen again
we have journeyed
"in a long and hurried flight"
our paddles cutting water
in constant search of the need
to wash our hands clean again0 -

lovely poem"You're the eve of my destruction in the garden of fears"0
-
hands clean
we gripped the tide
waves rolled
like wind over a wheat field
and on the end
of fading flames
the embers glowed
welcoming the sun
as it broke the horizon
the sea, dripping
from your chin
fell on my face like salty rain
i turned you
on the current
and clutched the dawn
of a new day
The End.0 -
