one headlight and an oil leak

wrote this song a couple years ago, was revisiting it on the weekend - kind of a southern rock sound, i guess. how do i post music anyway?
headin' down south in the summer heat
got one headlight and an oil leak
counting all the signs on the side of the road
say "Jesus died to save your soul"
passed about fifty 'tween here and there
and I don't feel any better in the clothes I wear
'cause guilt's riding shotgun and regret's in the back
and the devil's at my feet, trying to crawl in my lap
and I don't understand your thinking
the confidence breached, or the tone of your speech
seems that your mind is stuck in rewind
longing for days of rich and enslaved again
flood waters rising in New Orleans
Mississippi delta's rolling up its jeans
street corner profit finds truth on his knees
he says "the second coming is what I'm seeing"
well, I see death floating all around
poverty paddling for some higher ground
the price of gas, y'know it's doubling up
to keep this engine running is gonna take some luck
and I don't understand your thinking
the confidence breached, or the tone of your speech
seems that your mind is stuck in rewind
longing for days of rich and enslaved again
factory door's been boarded closed
floating off to Asia on a pot of gold
I'm just trying to keep my eyes on the road
they can take my job, but they can't take my soul
and I don't understand your thinking
the confidence breached, or the tone of your speech
seems that your mind is stuck in rewind
longing for days of rich and enslaved again
