when i shivered through the door

when it snows,
in big white flakes
of pure, independant beauty,
I tilt my head back
close my eyes
feel the cold purity
melt against my eyelids,
stick out my tongue
taste childhood all over again.

I spread my arms
let all the worry wander,
see the faces that used to see mine,
the ones that loved without question,
and I always knew,
despite the cold,
that the warmth would be waiting
when I shivered through the door.

    I like this one. :)

It reminds me of how good it used to feel to go to my grandparents house. They were always so happy to see me at the door!

  • we're on the same wavelength, as it is my grandparent's warmth i was thinking of.

glad it brought back similar memories for you. :)
