eyes never water
and hands don't shake
the lines never move
where we're going
the ups, the downs,
the elevator took off
without me again
you get what you deserve

twenty-nine years later
and counting
on fate
and fingertips
to crawl up spines
we've finally found
a way to communicate
with severed parts
of ourselves

did you get what you deserved?
