evergreen,
if you remember please write me back
on your own remnants
straw men in field drink blood
out of themselves
and each dying knight dies at night
after night of preying the mantis is tired
like a car able to roll out of a driveway
illuminated by a lamppost
that sheds into your room
a skin so dim like our falling-asleep faces
we have just fucked for a half-hour
still mildly sweaty and breathing in unison
but the feelings i felt each night
were different:
pots spread rumors about pans
cameras pan across the kitchen
and critics pan the scene
but we don't care, we filmed it
and we'd film it again
and i'd film us again
moonlight blue chests gently rising and falling
a sea of slight unbroken waves
an empty desert with oil
ready to burst
or sealed geysers or some other
useless phenomena
we are

evergreen,
fight the winter
flex your arms and hold the snow
and keep it warm
