Do you still truly get excited when this song starts or what? Be it, at a show, live or on a bootleg or on a DVD. I don't know what it is about this song, but I STILL get genuinely pumped up by it and love seeing it live. In essence it is why I go to see Pearl Jam. That song just defines them and will never, ever get old. Hearing that riff drop is great after nearly 18 years and how many listens?

Long live the standard Evenflow at shows!

    waaaaaaaaah!
The song still rocks, thats for sure. When played live I liked Mikes guitar solo better than Matts drum solo, but I'd sure like to see a tandem solo or "duel" so they both can do it up. Great energy live! Think how the band must feel still getting into after all these years and hundreds of times playing it!

    Yeah still love it.
Although its not first on my list of songs I want to hear them play live, I get excited.
Every song is exciting to me at a live show.

  • I love hearing it live. Listening to a boot or watching a DVD not as much. I'll typically watch it once or twice and then after a few viewings or listens I'll skip over it.

  • i don't care how many times in a row i hear that song. my initial reaction, to be honest, is "even flow again!?" but after a few seconds i'm singing along and rockin out. i really love the part where he goes "whisperin' hands gently lead him away, lead him away, him a-way-ay-ay.. YEAH!"
that "yeah" is fantastic! gets me pumped every time!

    Can I say it again?

If they did a show of nothing but different versions/styles of Even Flow, I would be the happiest person in the world! I can NEVER hear it enough...WAH!!!

At one point I was tired of hearing Evenflow live even though it was the song that first turned me on to Pearl Jam back in the day. Now I'm just sick of Better Man.

Mike's solos are the best part of this song at shows. Drum solos (even Matt's on this song) do nothing for me. Matt's solo at Lolla in 2007 during Evenflow when the song pretty much stopped and had to be restarted was the low point of that performance.

I just listened the athens version back to back 5 or 6 times yesterday, can't get enough of Mr. McCready, and I love how the song builds up again after the drum solo, priceless...

Love to hear it live and it's my favorite PJ video, especially the beginning of it.
  • This song is the BEST!!!
I think it is great when I have the radio on and you hear Eddie's "HAAAWW" at the start, just sweet!
And I never go pee at a show during EF!
  • I never get sick of Even Flow, whether listening to Ten, boots or seeing it live.

Nothing's more guaranteed to make me bogle :D

    except Better Man ;)
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

down with speedy flow. bring back that groove.

  • I've thought Even Flow was average ever since I was 11 years old. It's the only track on Ten that I could do without, and God knows why it's become a live staple or why they've put a ten minute drum solo in the middle. It was kinda boring to begin with.

  • NO way Jose! Lol, I can NEVER get sick of this song, no matter how many verisons of it I listen to, it's just such a strong song and I head bang like crazy once it starts! It really gets you pumped up, I love that feeling....And yeah! I agree with Washedinblack91, The "YEAH" part gets me pumped up too! It's awesome....I also love the begining of the video, "TURN THESE LIGHTS OUT JOSH! THIS IS A FUCKING ROCK CONCERT!!" Now that's just a classic!!

when that opening riff plays, how can you not get pumped up! love it!
  • Live, I love hearing this song... it's probably because of how crazy the audience gets... and you can see the band feeding off of it. On bootleg, unless I'm listening to the whole thing, it's never a track I go back to and pick out to listen to.

While growing up it was always my favorite PJ song... probably up until some time around Yield.
