i have decided
to grow arms
and arm them with hands
and fly a kite
to a galaxy alone
for a while
i'd forgotten to move out
of the way
of moving trains
i felt more worthless
than flattened coins
and rusted nails
and tall, moving statues of inconsitency
incoherent yet hopeful steel frames
stand tall at dawn
a chilling magnitude of precipitation
gathers on the horizon!
trumpets blair in the cool breeze!
juries are so guilt-ridden
that each member hands
from hotel ceilings
notes written on paper
planes crash across finish lines flaming
torrential downpours of ribbons
decorate the downtown cemetaries
skyscrapers are going dull
and giving up
suicidal miners are gasping for laughter
workaholics unite; a laid-off lynchmob
i can see it coming!
the solitude, the dominos have balanced
the budgets won't budge
it's a new year for decline
i am in love with a girl from far away
i am standing on the edge of hades
a long-lost second son of a second sun
writing love songs
for my enemies
i smile, teeth shined and shrill noise piercing
a silence i've driven home with
too many times
i hate the deli where you work
the food is good, the service is shit
your smile contains haze
a humid chernobyl of untruth
a festering hatred cools under a dying noisy sun
today is my hope for yesterday
i am in love with a girl from far away
i am at war with warnings,
the bay, and barrier islands
and radios replaying the same hits!
glistening tanned skin
legs shaved and shivering
streetlamps blinking, a morris code
i wish i could read
the signs sent by unseen deities
and angels and gargoyle statues
mocking my sleepless celebration
of being clinically impressed
with stories littered with historical innaccuracies
and beautiful stone churches reminding me
to donate more blood
than what is on the bills
in the folds of my wallet
if jesus saves, then i'm saved for last!
